A useful fit for

Choose the OasisMist 450S if you want a connected top-fill warm/cool humidifier with a selectable VeSync Auto target, and its 4.5-liter tank and 45-hour low-setting claim fit your refill expectations.

The main tradeoff

The 450S adds app setup and heater-related caution to a unit that still needs daily water changes and three-day tank/base cleaning. Its 215–430-square-foot range is a manufacturer claim, not a room-performance result.

The Levoit OasisMist 450S is the smaller connected warm-and-cool model in the OasisMist pair: its 4.5-liter tank is listed for up to 45 hours on low, while its app, sensor-led Auto mode, aroma pad and two rotating nozzles give it a more involved routine than a simple dial humidifier. It makes the most sense when you want heated mist or remote adjustment in a room within Levoit’s stated 215–430-square-foot range, but do not need the larger OasisMist 600S tank.

What the 450S’s controls actually buy you

The current U.S. listing identifies an OasisMist 450S Smart Humidifier, and its single default Shopify variant is SKU HEAPHULVSUS0049. Its linked U.S. manual names model LUH-O451S-WUS, so the listing and manual agree on the 450S family and a specific U.S. model suffix. The appliance has buttons and a humidity display; VeSync adds remote on/off and mist or heat adjustments, humidity monitoring, timers, schedules and compatible voice-assistant control. A phone and compatible network are needed for connected use, and the manual describes setup on a secure 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. This is not an included physical-remote arrangement.

There are three mist settings and three warm-heat settings. The manual’s Auto mode uses the built-in sensor to adjust output around a 60% default target; the app lets you choose a target instead. That is different from merely setting a timer. Sleep mode is another separate routine: it selects low output, darkens the display and is available with cool mist only. If you need the device to follow a chosen room-humidity target, the app-connected Auto plan is the relevant path; if you mainly want lights off and a low cool setting overnight, Sleep mode is simpler. The manufacturer’s “real-time” humidity display is a device reading, not a guarantee that a sensor near a mist plume represents the entire room.

Warm mist, room claims and the tank

Levoit lists 300 mL/h maximum cool output and 550 mL/h maximum warm output, along with a 280-watt rating. The manual says warm mist can take about 15 minutes to start and warns that the nozzle vapor can be hot. The listed noise figures also depend on mode: under 26 dB on low cool mist and under 41 dB at high warm mist. Those figures describe specified settings, not every combination or a whole room’s sound. The low-setting runtime claim is up to 45 hours, with the manual cautioning that room temperature and humidity change actual use. Running warm mist consumes water faster according to the manual.

The product page and manual give a 4.5-liter / 1.19-gallon tank and an effective range of 215–430 square feet. That same published range appears for the larger 600S, so buying the larger tank should not be read as a higher manufacturer-stated coverage figure. These are maker claims, not measurements of your ceiling height, doorways, insulation or starting humidity. The dimensions are printed as 10.8 × 6.0 × 11.97 inches, but Levoit does not label the axes; do not use the last number as a confirmed height. Weight is 5.3 pounds. Measure a level, water-resistant place with clearance instead of relying on an assumed orientation.

Top access is convenient, not maintenance-free

Levoit markets direct top filling, but the manual still has you remove the cover and lift the tank from its base. It is easier to add water than an inverted bottle, not a way to avoid lifting parts during a refill or cleaning. The dual nozzles rotate to aim mist; the manual asks for a hard, flat, water-resistant surface at least 12 inches from walls, with mist directed away from furniture, bedding and appliances. It also recommends purified or distilled water because tap water can leave mineral residue. The filter sponge and absorption pad are maintenance aids, not evidence that tap minerals disappear.

Care is the decisive tradeoff for someone choosing this as a bedroom appliance. Levoit says to change the water daily and clean the tank and base chamber every three days, then clean and dry it if stored for a week or more. The base must not be immersed, no part is dishwasher-safe, and detergents are prohibited. Use the manual’s vinegar descaling steps and allow warm parts to cool before cleaning. Oil belongs only on the removable aroma pad, never in the water tank or base; Levoit says the small heat-based diffuser is intended to give a light aroma rather than fill a large space with fragrance. The package lists three aroma pads, three mineral-absorption pads and two filter sponges, one of each preinstalled.

When to choose it—and when not to

Choose the 450S if a selected app target, schedules, warm mist and top-fill access are meaningful and a 4.5-liter capacity is enough for your refill habits. Choose the OasisMist 600S if you want six liters and the longer published low-setting runtime; its advertised area range is not larger, and its current-page manual/model suffix needs closer label confirmation. If warm mist is unnecessary, the reviewed Classic 300S keeps smart humidity control without the heater and its warm-water cleaning caution. If you want a simpler manual top-fill routine, compare the Classic 160 instead. None of these alternatives is a hands-on recommendation: this is a model-document assessment, and all require regular water changes and cleaning. Read the current OasisMist 450S page and its linked LUH-O451S-WUS manual before use.
