Levoit OasisMist 600S review

The Levoit OasisMist 600S is a six-liter connected warm-and-cool humidifier whose current U.S. product listing advertises up to 60 hours on low, a top-fill tank and a 215–430-square-foot effective range. It offers similar app and sensor features to the 450S but has more reservoir capacity, not a larger published coverage range. One identity caveat matters: the current listing SKU is HEAPHULVSUS0084Y, its manual link says LUH-O601S-KUS, and the linked PDF cover/specification table says LUH-O601S-WUS. This review keeps the current product name and SKU while preserving that suffix conflict rather than silently treating those codes as interchangeable.

Connected automation, with one manual-link caveat

Levoit’s current U.S. page calls the product an OasisMist 600S Smart Humidifier and exposes a single default variant with SKU HEAPHULVSUS0084Y. The official page describes warm and cool mist, two rotating nozzles, a display, top-fill handling and VeSync control. Its linked manual is a 28-page 600S manual; the page’s download label names LUH-O601S-KUS, whereas the PDF itself labels its model LUH-O601S-WUS. The listed operations below come from that linked 600S manual, but the exact suffix-to-current-SKU bridge remains unconfirmed. Before ordering replacement pieces or making a suffix-specific compatibility decision, compare the appliance label and package insert to Levoit’s support records.

The manual describes button/display controls and three mist settings. Its sensor-led Auto mode adjusts mist toward a 60% default target, and VeSync lets you choose a different target. Sleep mode is separate: it selects low mist and dims the display, and is intended for cool mist. The app additionally documents remote switching, humidity monitoring, timers, schedules and voice-assistant support. A schedule tells the unit when to run; it is not itself proof that the room is at a selected humidity. If app dependence is undesirable, this is not a plain manual model. Nor is an app connection the same as an included handheld remote: the package lists no physical handset.

More water between refills, not a bigger room promise

The linked manual gives 6.0 liters / 1.59 U.S. gallons, up to 60 hours on low, 300 mL/h maximum cool output and 550 mL/h maximum warm output. Levoit cautions that actual runtime varies with room temperature and humidity; its support instructions also note that warm mist uses water more quickly. The current page lists 280 watts, <26 dB on low cool mist, dimensions of 10.8 × 6.0 × 13.9 inches and 5.5 pounds. The linked manual additionally rates high warm operation under 41 dB. Dimension axes are not labeled on the product page, so the final number should not be represented as a confirmed height.

The manufacturer’s effective range is 215–430 square feet, the same interval shown for the 450S. A six-liter tank may reduce refill frequency relative to 4.5 liters, but it does not establish that this model will humidify a bigger room or that a given room will reach its target quickly. Consider room layout and the manual’s placement directions: use a level, water-resistant hard surface, leave at least 12 inches to the walls, keep mist away from nearby objects and do not set it on carpet or rugs. The sensor sits near the aroma-box side; the manual warns that moisture from a misdirected nozzle or a close wall can distort its reading.

Top-fill is still a care commitment

The manual has you remove the top cover and lift the tank from the base to fill it; do not pour water into the base chamber. That makes this easier to refill than a tank that must be turned upside down, but the tank and cover still need handling. Levoit recommends purified or distilled water because tap water can leave white mineral dust on surfaces. A water-filter sponge and mineral-absorption pad help with internal deposits, but neither removes cleaning from the routine.

The manual says to replace the water daily and clean the tank and base chamber every three days; clean and dry the humidifier before storage of a week or longer. No component is dishwasher-safe, the base must not be submerged and detergents are not allowed. Follow the manual’s vinegar descaling steps and wait until the heater and other warm parts cool before cleaning. Essential oil goes on the aroma pad only, never in the tank or base. The current product page lists two aroma pads, two absorption pads and one filter sponge (some preinstalled); the linked manual’s package list says three aroma pads, three absorption pads and two filter sponges. That is a real package-list discrepancy, so check what arrives and do not count on the older manual’s spare-pad quantities.

Who should shortlist it?

The 600S fits a buyer who wants top access, app schedules or a selected Auto target, both cool and heated output, and more water capacity than the 450S. It is a poor fit if you need a documented larger coverage rating, a physical remote, dishwasher-safe parts, or a no-app routine. Choosing a 60-hour number over a 45-hour one is only useful if you are comfortable with its larger footprint and a every-three-day tank/base cleaning routine; runtime is an idealized low-setting maximum, not a promise that you will refill only once every two-and-a-half days.

Choose the 450S if its 4.5-liter reservoir is enough and you prefer a verified WUS manual bridge and a current package list that agrees with that manual. Consider the LV600S if you are comparing larger hybrids and want a manual whose exact U.S. model code is clearly printed on both product evidence and manual, while noting its own separate control distinctions. If warm mist is not required, the Dual 200S is a smaller connected alternative with a different oil route and care plan.
