Three model needs

Dual 100, 150 and 200S: three different humidity routines

Levoit’s Dual 100, Dual 150 and Dual 200S are all ultrasonic cool-mist models with top-fill tanks, but that shared label hides real differences in controls, automatic behavior, maintenance and essential-oil instructions. Start with the exact routine you want—not just the largest tank or longest runtime claim.

Choose between buttons, a dial and connected settings

The Dual 100 uses buttons and indicator lights for three manual mist levels, plus a separate Sleep Mode. Its manual says that mode uses a humidity sensor to adjust output toward a fixed 60% relative-humidity target. It has no documented app, remote timer or custom target. The Dual 150 is simpler: a rotary knob selects mist level, and the U.S. manual documents no Auto or app feature. The Dual 200S uses buttons and a humidity percentage display, cycles between Auto, low and high, and connects to VeSync for remote control, a custom target, schedules and timers. Its physical timer indicator does not mean a timer can be set on the appliance; the manual says to set it in the app.

If you want a sensor, decide whether a preset or a configurable target matters. The Dual 100’s Sleep Mode and the Dual 200S’s Auto mode are not interchangeable: the former is a fixed sleep-oriented 60% mode, while the latter defaults to 40–50% and can be adjusted in VeSync. A sensor at the appliance is not a room-wide measurement, so use an independent reading if you need to know conditions elsewhere.

Capacity and room-area claims

The Dual 100 has a 1.8-liter / 0.48-gallon tank and a manual runtime span of 8–20 hours that varies with temperature and humidity; the manual does not say that span is tied to a particular mist setting. Levoit lists a 107–260-square-foot effective range. The Dual 150 and 200S both have 3-liter tanks, a published up-to-25-hour minimum-mist figure and a 107–290-square-foot range. Those figures are manufacturer claims, not a guarantee that one unit will control humidity throughout a connected home. Room layout, air leakage, doors and output setting all matter.

At 7 by 7 by 10.6 inches, the Dual 100 is shortest. The Dual 150 is 7.2 by 8.1 by 11.6 inches; the 200S is 7.1 by 7.1 by 11.8 inches. Measure the surface and clearance around each unit, not only the cabinet footprint. Their manuals call for a level, water-resistant placement and mist directed away from walls and furnishings; the Dual 100 asks for six inches from surrounding objects, while the Dual 150 and 200S specify 12 inches from walls.

Do not assume the fragrance directions are interchangeable

The Dual 100 manual describes optional oil in its base chamber, even though the current page says to put it in the water tank. Use the manual’s specific placement, not the contradictory promotional wording. The Dual 200S manual and product page both describe the base chamber. For the Dual 150, the current product page promotes aromatherapy and images oil fragrance, but the linked white-version U.S. manual says to put only clean water in the tank and never another liquid. Until Levoit supplies clear instructions for that exact model, use water only and do not assume the Dual 100 or 200S oil route applies.

Cleaning can be the deciding difference

All three manuals recommend daily water changes and purified or distilled water. The Dual 100’s manual calls for weekly cleaning; Dual 150 and 200S manuals call for cleaning every three days. None should have its base immersed or be filled with water directly into the base chamber. The 200S alone in this group lists several dishwasher-safe removable parts—the tank, cover, filter housing, nozzle, float and silencer—but explicitly excludes the water-filter sponge and electrical base. The 150 includes filter sponges, but its manual does not call them dishwasher-safe. Do not infer part care across the family.

Shortlist by what you will actually use

Read the Dual 100 review if you want a compact tank and fixed sensor-based Sleep Mode without app setup. The Dual 150 review fits a larger top-fill tank with a physical dial, provided its three-day clean interval and water-only manual fit your plan. The Dual 200S review covers the connected option with a custom Auto target and component-specific dishwasher permission. For a still larger Classic-style tank with an aroma pad rather than a base-chamber route, compare the Classic 300S. All four reviews are based on manufacturer documentation, not hands-on tests; follow the exact manual supplied with the unit you buy.

Put the room and upkeep together.
