Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can I require a sensor-based sleep mode without phone-app control?
Yes. The manual describes a humidity-sensing Sleep Mode that adjusts output toward 60% RH; the product has no documented app control.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the exact manual give an essential-oil route separate from the water tank?
Yes. It directs 10–15 drops to the base chamber, while warning not to fill that chamber with water.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the manufacturer state a maximum room-area figure of at least 200 square feet?
Yes. The product page lists an effective range ending at 260 square feet; this is a maker claim, not measured coverage.
Explore this need in the finder →The Levoit Dual 100 is a compact top-fill ultrasonic model with button controls, three manual mist levels and a sensor-based Sleep Mode. Its 1.8-liter tank and 107–260-square-foot maker-stated range are smaller than the Dual 150 and Dual 200S claims, but the Sleep Mode is a real difference: the manual says it adjusts mist toward 60% relative humidity without an app.
A small top-fill tank, with a condition-dependent runtime
Levoit lists a 0.48-gallon / 1.8-liter tank, dimensions of 7 by 7 by 10.6 inches, 24 watts and a 107–260-square-foot effective range. The manual gives an 8–20-hour runtime range and says actual runtime depends on room temperature and humidity; it does not attach that span to a specific mist level. Treat 20 hours as the upper end of a manufacturer claim, not a promise that one fill covers a full night in every room. The published area is also not a measured result in this review.
Refilling is through the top after removing the cover, not by turning the whole reservoir upside down. The manual asks for a hard, flat, water-resistant surface at least six inches from walls, furniture, bedding and appliances. It also warns against towels, rugs, carpet and other fibrous surfaces that can obstruct the air inlet underneath. Direct the mist away from nearby surfaces and remove the tank before moving the unit. Those instructions matter more than the compact footprint if the intended spot is a floor or soft nightstand liner.
Buttons and a distinct automatic sleep setting
The front controls cycle through low, medium and high mist, with indicator lights rather than a numeric humidity display. A separate Sleep Mode turns off the display lights and uses the humidity sensor to adjust mist toward 60% RH. That makes the Dual 100 more than a three-speed manual-only machine, but it is not a connected controller: the reviewed page and manual document no VeSync app, remote operation, timers or schedules. Sleep Mode is a preset operating option, not a custom target you can tune on a phone.
The manual cautions that humidity above 60% calls for a lower setting or turning the unit off. A sensor at the appliance reports its nearby environment; it does not establish that humidity is even throughout a larger or open-plan home. If you need a separately chosen target, scheduled remote control or an app reading, the Dual 200S is a better documented match. If you prefer an ordinary dial and a larger tank over automatic control, compare the Dual 150 instead.
Oil instructions differ between the current page and manual
The current product page advertises essential oils and says to add them to the water tank. The linked U.S. manual gives a more specific instruction: it describes an optional 10–15 drops in the base chamber and warns not to pour water into the base chamber. Follow the manual’s placement instructions rather than the page’s water-tank wording. Do not interpret the aroma feature as a general-purpose diffuser, and do not improvise by mixing oil into the water. The correct route is a meaningful purchasing detail, so check for current Levoit clarification if the exact method is important to you.
Water and cleaning are part of the trade
The manual recommends purified water and explains that high-mineral tap water can leave white dust. It says to change the water daily, clean weekly and before storage, rinse removable parts, and use distilled white vinegar for scale. It prohibits detergents, and says not to immerse the base or put the base in a dishwasher. The short interval between weekly cleaning matters as much as the small tank: this is not a set-and-forget unit even in Sleep Mode.
Keep the air inlet and mist outlet unobstructed, and do not fill the base directly. If the mist tube is displaced during cleaning, the manual says to reinstall it correctly before using the unit. A small reservoir can be less cumbersome to refill, but it also means less water between fills than the 3-liter Dual 150 or 200S.
Which Dual model fits better?
Choose the Dual 150 if you want a 3-liter tank, a physical dial and a manual that reports up to 25 hours on minimum mist, while giving up documented automatic humidity adjustment. Its manual covers the white LUH-D302-WUS version; Levoit lists blue and sand SKUs too, but the separate color-to-manual mapping remains unclear. Choose the Dual 200S if you need app control, a customizable humidity target, schedules and voice commands; its larger feature set brings app setup and the timer is set in VeSync. The Dual 100 is the middle path if a compact tank, top-fill and a fixed sensor-based sleep target suit your room better than either a dial-only or connected setup.
This documentation-based assessment does not claim measured output, room humidity results or personal use. Read the current Levoit Dual 100 product page alongside its linked U.S. user manual. The current page shows a gray product SKU HEAPHULVNUS0025 and a variant UPC of 810043371926; Levoit also lists a second UPC on the page without mapping it to another current finish, so do not identify the unit by UPC alone.

Paper, software and setup details
Manufacturer noise claim
At most 28 dB; manufacturer claim with no mist level attached.
Manufacturer cleaning interval
Change water daily; clean weekly and before storage.
Water and care limits
Purified water is recommended. Manual directs optional essential oil to the base chamber, despite current product-page wording that says water tank. Do not fill the base with water. Do not use detergent or immerse the base; the base is not dishwasher-safe. Follow the manual's distilled-white-vinegar cleaning instructions and keep the underside air inlet clear.
