Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Do you specifically want a top-fill humidifier that can switch between cool and heated warm mist?
813S page lists both modes; the filed specification table gives maximum output claims of 300 mL/h cool and 500 mL/h warm. Warm mist brings a hot-output caution and the maker says warm mode uses water faster.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you need app/Auto operation and top filling, without relying on disputed capacity or room figures?
Dreo lists app compatibility, Auto mode and top filling. Its 6 L product title conflicts with a 3-quart specification field, and its area figures disagree; no numeric capacity/coverage requirement is treated as met.
Explore this need in the finder →Will a separate aroma pad meet your scent preference, without adding oil to tank water?
The manual gives the oil route as a separate aroma pad and does not authorize oil in the water. The output ceiling remains a maker rating.
Explore this need in the finder →The Dreo Smart Humidifier 813S is a top-fill model marketed as 6 liters, with cool and heated warm mist, app compatibility and Auto mode. Those options offer more flexibility than a cool-only machine, but warm mist brings extra caution and upkeep. Dreo’s own capacity and room-area figures conflict, so weigh its documented controls and operating modes rather than treating its advertised coverage as a promise.
Choose the mode you will actually use
The manual rates maximum output at 300 mL per hour for cool mist and 500 mL per hour for warm mist. These are manufacturer ratings, not measurements in a home. Dreo says warm mist begins in five minutes; the instructions allow about five to ten minutes. The warm outlet can be hot, so keep hands and faces away and follow the placement guidance, particularly around children or anyone likely to touch the unit.
Dreo says warm operation uses water faster. For cool mist only, compare the HM512S or HM524S; both avoid a heater. HM713S also advertises six liters and both mist temperatures. The 813S is not automatically an upgrade because its model number is higher: compare exact model codes and supported routines instead of assuming a numbered series is a performance ladder.
Top fill, app controls and the limits of the claims
Top filling avoids turning over a tank to reach a bottom cap. Dreo lists app compatibility and Auto mode; the manual depicts on-device mist, warm/cool, Auto, timer and display controls. The package list names a cleaning brush, manual and quick-start guide, but no handheld remote. The advertised “up to 45 hours” has no specified setting or room conditions, so it is not a dependable refill schedule.
Capacity and coverage need caution. The product title and manual table say 6 liters, but the web specification table says “3 quarts.” The same page recommends up to 500 square feet, while its FAQ says effectiveness falls above 215–430 square feet. Neither is a sound matching threshold. The finder therefore does not treat the conflicting capacity as a verified six-liter minimum or promise a precise room-area ceiling.
The white model’s filed guide has a second identity conflict: the cover says HM723, while its technical page says DR-HHM013S; the FCC label filing connects that code to HM813S. Check the model and guide supplied with your unit before relying on an unclear setting.
A separate black Smart Humidifier 813S support entry uses code DWHM03S. Its exact-code manual cover says HM813S, its specification table names DWHM03S, and its control instructions cover top-fill, app, Auto, timer and both mist temperatures. But that manual cites FCC ID 2A3SYHHM003, unlike the white model’s DR-HHM013S / 2A3SYHHM013 label. Dreo has not established electrical equivalence or a distinct retail SKU. If your unit bears DWHM03S, keep that code’s guide with it; do not assume a sibling’s label or hardware identity.

Placement and upkeep are part of the fit
Dreo lists dimensions of 13.94 inches high by 6.14 wide by 11.42 deep and a 6.14-pound weight. The manual calls for a flat, level, water-resistant surface, clearance from walls and objects, raised placement rather than carpet or floor, and directing mist away from furniture and electronics. Allowing room to refill and clean can matter as much as the footprint.
The manual calls for reservoir cleaning every three days; Dreo also recommends purified or distilled water and routine water changes. Its FAQ warns mineral-rich water can leave white dust. Because the available model sources do not establish the humidification mechanism, do not count it as ultrasonic if that is essential. For fragrance, use oil only on the separate aroma pad, never in the water. Choose another model if you need tank-added fragrance or do not want regular cleaning.
Who should compare it with another Dreo?
The 813S makes sense if you want top filling, app/Auto controls and warm mist, and can follow the heat and cleaning cautions. If you do not need heat, compare the cool-only HM524S. If you want a larger stated reservoir with both temperatures, the 8-liter HM717S is a useful alternative, though its own manual and placement needs matter. For a six-liter hybrid, compare the HM713S directly rather than choosing by model number.
Look elsewhere if you require a verified room-area limit, confirmed ultrasonic construction, an exact humidity-target range, a handheld remote or guaranteed 45-hour runtime. The source record does not support those as firm promises. This is a feature-and-routine fit, not a substitute for monitoring room humidity or following the included instructions.
