Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Do you need a large top-fill reservoir rather than turning over a smaller tank?
The current product page lists 11 L and top fill. Set the 11-liter minimum only if that capacity meaningfully reduces your refill routine; the machine still needs cleaning and descaling.
Explore this need in the finder →Can your chosen floor location accommodate a 31.73-inch tower?
Dreo's dimension graphic gives a height of 31.73 in. The inspected 747S manual asks for a level, water-resistant location and 12 in of clearance from walls or major obstacles.
Explore this need in the finder →Is warm mist essential, or will cool mist meet your need?
The U.S. listing describes cool mist and ultrasonic operation. It does not confirm warm mist; select a documented hybrid instead if heated output is essential.
Explore this need in the finder →The Dreo 747S is a tall ultrasonic cool-mist tower built around an 11-liter top-fill reservoir. Its selling case is straightforward: a large tank, a remote and connected controls in one floor-standing unit. The same package asks for more vertical space and regular attention to the tank, base chamber and cartridge. Dreo's advertised 700-square-foot area, 100-hour runtime and 21 dB noise figure are manufacturer claims, not independent room or sound measurements.
A tower, not a compact bedside unit
Dreo lists an 11 L tank and an area claim of up to 700 square feet. The official product page describes cool mist, and its dimension graphic labels the body 31.73 inches high by 9.65 inches wide and deep. That height is the first practical filter: check the room, shelf or cabinet clearance before you choose it, and leave the open space around the outlet that the manual requests. A tall shape can be easier to place on a floor than a broad console, but it is not a discreet little nightstand humidifier.
The 11-liter reservoir may make a long operating stretch possible, yet Dreo's “up to 100 hours” statement does not specify a setting that every household will reproduce. The user manual copy describes both a top water inlet and the option to pour directly into the base chamber. Either way, the large capacity does not mean you can ignore stagnant water or cleaning. Treat runtime and floor-area values as starting claims, not as proof that one unit will humidify an open-plan home or run for four days at your preferred output.
More than one way to adjust it
The U.S. listing names app, remote, touch and voice controls, includes a remote, lists three mist levels, and advertises a 12-hour timer. Its FAQ confirms Auto mode stops adding moisture once the room reaches its target; it does not state which setpoints a U.S. buyer can choose. A Dreo-branded manual copy for DR-HHM017S describes a selectable 30–90% target in five-point steps and Sleep mode, but the current U.S. product record gives only SKU 10-160170-001, while a separate Dreo U.S. setup guide uses DR-HHM017AS. Until that exact-SKU link is closed, treat the selectable range and voice-account requirement from the manual copy as unconfirmed. The listing still establishes an Auto response plus app and handset options, but check the booklet with your unit before choosing it for a specific humidity setpoint.
The exact product page describes cool mist and ultrasonic operation; it does not list warm mist. If heating the water is essential, the 747S is the wrong plan. Dreo's 8-liter 717S is a more relevant hybrid alternative when both cool and warm mist matter, although the smaller tank and different footprint may change the refill routine. The HM735S is another 11-liter cool-mist tower in the library; compare its own dimensions and controls rather than assuming that two large Dreo tanks are interchangeable.
Light and aroma need careful interpretation
Dreo promotes “RGB” on the 747S page. The manual copy I inspected describes an indicator that changes among colors with measured room humidity, plus a button for ambient, display and water-window lights and their brightness. It does not establish a menu for choosing a color or prove the questionnaire’s controllable color-changing tank-light condition. If user-selected colors are essential, confirm that behavior in the instructions supplied with your exact unit rather than relying on the RGB headline.
The U.S. page calls out an aroma box and its FAQ says to clean the aroma-pad tray and change the pad. The DR-HHM017S manual copy says essential oil goes on the pad only, not in the tank, and that the humidifier is not an aroma diffuser; that code’s link to the current U.S. SKU remains unresolved, so follow the supplied booklet before adding oil. The separate cartridge, base chamber and wet tank still call for routine care even if you never use the aroma tray.
Plan for the cleaning routine
The manual calls for unplugging before maintenance, keeping water out of the fan and air outlets, cleaning the water tank and base chamber, and drying parts before storage. It describes a removable cartridge and a separate aroma-pad tray, with weekly tray cleaning and a monthly descaling step. It also recommends purified or distilled water to limit white residue, a water-resistant mat, and directing mist away from walls, furniture and electrical equipment. This is more than a quick rinse; the separate parts make the large tank easier to service only if you are willing to do the service.
Identity matters for care claims: Dreo’s support directory maps the 747S to DR-HHM017S, the current U.S. record lists SKU 10-160170-001 without a model-number field, and a separate U.S. setup guide says DR-HHM017AS. I cannot verify whether those suffixes identify the same U.S. configuration. The booklet shipped with the exact appliance is the reliable tie-breaker if its cleaning directions differ.
Who should shortlist the Dreo 747S?
It fits households that want a large top-fill reservoir, physical remote and app controls, and have room for a 31.73-inch cool-mist tower. It is less convincing if you need a compact unit, a confirmed warm-mist mode, a proven room-performance figure, or a low-maintenance appliance. If height is tight, the shorter HM735S may be worth comparing; if warm mist matters more than the larger tank, look at a documented hybrid such as the HM717S. None of these alternatives is a universal upgrade—the right choice depends on height, mist type, refill preference and care routine.

I also inspected a Dreo-branded bilingual 747S manual copy labelled DR-HHM017S; its direct PDF download was blocked, and the U.S. guide's DR-HHM017AS suffix remains an unresolved bridge. Product-page area, runtime and sound figures are maker claims, not independent measurements.

Paper, software and setup details
Manufacturer noise claim
Dreo lists 21 dB; testing conditions and independent measurement are not provided.
Manufacturer cleaning interval
The inspected DR-HHM017S manual copy recommends routine cleaning, weekly aroma-pad-tray cleaning and monthly descaling. The code-to-U.S.-SKU link remains unresolved; use the exact U.S. unit instructions.
Water and care limits
Dreo’s U.S. FAQ refers to an aroma-pad tray and replacing the pad. The inspected third-party-hosted DR-HHM017S manual copy says essential oil belongs on the pad only, not in the tank, and that this is not an aroma diffuser; because that manual code’s link to U.S. SKU 10-160170-001 remains unresolved, follow the booklet supplied with the exact unit before adding any oil. The manual copy also calls for unplugging, keeping water away from fan/air outlets, cleaning and drying wet parts, weekly aroma-tray cleaning, monthly descaling, and a water-resistant mat; follow exact unit instructions.
