Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Do you want a high-capacity top-fill tank rather than turning over a smaller reservoir?
The current U.S. product record identifies one HM735S White SKU (10-16005-111); the DR-HHM005S manual shows top-inlet and direct-main-tank filling. The manual uses HM835S in its app-pairing step, so the review keeps that name distinct.
Explore this need in the finder →Is a handheld remote and app control part of the way you will use it?
The DR-HHM005S manual lists a remote; the current HM735S product page lists app/touch/voice control. The manual calls its app model HM835S, so this assessment does not count HM835S as a separate current U.S. offer.
Explore this need in the finder →Is your available floor location tall enough for a 30.91-inch body?
Dreo lists 30.91 inches high. The manual also asks for a flat, water-resistant surface and 12 inches of clearance from walls or major obstacles.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you specifically need heated warm mist?
The HM735S U.S. listing and DR-HHM005S manual describe a cool-mist humidifier without a warm-mist mode; the manual’s app setup uses HM835S, so its exact retail-name bridge remains separate.
Explore this need in the finder →The Dreo HM735S is a tall, cool-mist ultrasonic tower whose 11-liter reservoir is the main reason to choose it. Dreo advertises up to 100 hours and a 700-square-foot range, but the real household benefit is simpler: you can top up a large tank without routinely turning a heavy reservoir over. The trade is a nearly 31-inch appliance, more parts to keep clean than the sparse silhouette suggests, and no warm-mist mode.
A large tank that fills from above
Dreo lists an 11-liter (2.9-gallon) tank, 5.94-pound empty weight and dimensions of 10.24 inches deep by 8.86 wide by 30.91 high. The manual describes a separate water-inlet tank at the top, a main tank and a visible level window; it allows water to be added through the top inlet or directly to the main tank, stopping at the MAX mark. That makes the refill process less awkward than removing and inverting a compact reservoir, but it does not make 11 liters of water weightless. Plan a stable floor location before filling and avoid moving the machine while full. Initial setup also involves fastening its stand with the included screw, so it is not simply an appliance to set down and forget.
The advertised 100-hour runtime is an upper-end manufacturer claim, not a guarantee for every mist setting or room. Dreo lists a range up to 700 square feet and says the mist rises more than six feet, but those figures are not independent room tests. Ventilation, ceiling height, open doorways and the target you select affect how quickly a room changes. Use the footprint and capacity to assess fit; do not treat the headline area as proof it will bring every connected room to a chosen humidity.
Smart controls with a physical fallback
HM735S combines a touch display, a handheld remote and the Dreo app. The manual lists low, medium and high manual mist levels, an Auto mode with a selectable 30–90% target in five-point increments, Sleep mode and a zero-to-12-hour timer. In Sleep mode, output is reduced to the minimum; a separate humidity-indicator control can turn off its indicator light. Dreo advertises 26 dB, specifically in its Sleep-mode promotion, but that is a maker figure rather than a measurement of this review. You do not need a phone for every adjustment: the physical panel and included remote handle routine controls. Wi-Fi schedules and voice assistants add convenience, although the manual says Alexa/Google Home setup goes through the Dreo app and a Dreo account.
The important mode limitation is that HM735S produces cool mist only. It is not a smaller version of Dreo’s HM717S or HM713S warm/cool machines. If heated output is essential, exclude this model and compare those hybrids instead. If cool mist is what you want, the absence of a heater avoids the extra hot-water path and warm-mode electrical load that come with a hybrid, without making the ultrasonic tank maintenance disappear.
Water quality and upkeep still matter
Dreo promotes five-micron mist and says the unit does not make white dust. The manual nevertheless recommends purified or distilled water to limit mineral residue, and Dreo’s own FAQ explains that minerals in hard water can settle around the machine. “No white dust” is therefore not a reason to ignore water quality or cleaning. A demineralization cartridge is listed among the manual’s components; it is an upkeep part, not a substitute for changing water and cleaning the reservoir.
The manual asks you to unplug before care, keep water out of the air outlets and avoid rinsing the main body under running water. The assembly has a top inlet tank, main water tank, droplet collector, base chamber, removable cartridge and aroma-pad tray. Its care pages separate recurring cleaning, a weekly cartridge soak and aroma-tray cleaning from a monthly descaling step. This is manageable if you are willing to disassemble and dry the listed areas, but less appealing if you want a quick wipe-down machine. For fragrance, use only the dedicated aroma pad; Dreo warns against putting oils in the water tank.
Placement is similarly practical rather than decorative. The manual calls for a flat, water-resistant surface and at least 12 inches of clearance from walls or major obstacles; it also says to aim mist away from furniture and electrical appliances. That tall form can make a floor corner easier than a crowded nightstand, but the outlet still needs open air around it. If your room already shows condensation or damp surfaces, more output is not automatically better; lower the setting or stop and address the moisture level.
Who should choose it?
HM735S makes sense for someone who wants a cool-mist smart model, values an 11-liter tank and can give a tall tower room for its inlet, outlet and cleaning routine. It is also a sensible comparison when a 6- or 8-liter tabletop unit would mean frequent refills. The HM717S is the more relevant alternative if you want both cool and warm mist in a smaller reservoir; the HM713S is another 6-liter warm/cool hybrid. Conversely, an evaporative humidifier may better suit a household that wants to avoid visible ultrasonic mist and is comfortable replacing a wick. These alternatives solve different needs, not a universal best-to-worst ladder.
Skip HM735S if you need heated mist, cannot fit a 31-inch body, require a verified room-area result rather than a manufacturer’s “up to” figure, or do not want recurring cartridge and tank care. The large reservoir is useful only if the space and maintenance plan fit the way you actually live.

The manual cover names HM735S/model DR-HHM005S, but one app-pairing step says select HM835S; Dreo’s grouped support entry lists 735S/835S. The shared code maps that support entry to the existing HM735S plan; no separate U.S. 835S SKU was found. This review covers only White SKU 10-16005-111. Maker figures are not independent measurements.

Paper, software and setup details
Manufacturer noise claim
Dreo lists 26 dB in the sleep-mode promotion; this is not independently measured.
Manufacturer cleaning interval
Manual separates recurring cleaning, weekly cartridge soak/aroma-tray cleaning and a monthly descaling step.
Water and care limits
Unplug before cleaning; keep water away from air outlets/main body. Manual shows water-inlet tank, main tank, droplet collector, base chamber, removable demineralization cartridge, remote and aroma-pad tray. It recommends purified/distilled water to reduce mineral residue. Essential oils belong only on the aroma pad, not the tank.
