A useful fit for

For someone who specifically needs both cool and heated warm mist and will follow the warm-path placement and cleaning instructions.

The main tradeoff

Warm mode adds heat cautions and much higher rated power. Target ceiling, coverage and cool-mode power vary across Dreo pages/manual.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Is documented warm mist essential?

Manual documents warm output; it cautions that mist may be hot.

Do you need a minimum warm-mist output?

Dreo page lists maximum warm output of 500 mL/h; this is a maker specification.

Do you need a conflict-free room-area ceiling or target maximum?

Dreo sources disagree on area and target upper bound; treat those numeric fields as unknown.

The Dreo HM713S is the most distinct machine in this four-model group: a 6-liter top-fill ultrasonic humidifier that can produce either cool or heated warm mist. It also has app and voice control, Auto humidity adjustment, sleep and timer settings, and a separate aroma-pad route. Those options can be useful when temperature choice is part of your routine, but they also make this the model whose water, placement and operating cautions deserve the closest read.

Warm mist is a meaningful difference

Unlike the cool-only HM311S, HM512S and HM524S, the HM713S offers cool and warm modes. The model manual lists three warm settings and gives corresponding outlet-temperature figures; it cautions that the mist can be hot and says not to place hands, face or other exposed skin near the nozzle. The Dreo page says warm mist reaches 86°F in five minutes, but that is a product claim—not a reason to treat an operating humidifier as a heat source or to place it where a child can reach the mist outlet. A household that wants only cool mist may have no reason to accept warm-mode complexity or its higher power draw.

Dreo lists 6 liters, 28 dB in cool mode, and body dimensions of 11.41 by 6.14 by 13.93 inches (page axes: depth, width, height). Its exact manual identifies 28 W for cool operation and 280 W for warm operation; a separate page gives a 26 W figure, so the product’s cool power rating is not consistent across those maker materials. Dreo’s warm-mist output is listed as up to 500 mL per hour. These values are specifications, not independent tests.

Automation, target range and room fit

The HM713S has three manual mist levels, Auto Mode and a sleep setting. Its page says a custom target can be selected from 30–90%; the exact model manual describes target adjustment from 30–80%, both in five-point steps. The ability to select a humidity target is supported by both sources, but the upper bound is not. For that reason the finder can recognize custom-target operation, yet this review does not promise access to a particular high-end setpoint. Dreo says sensor accuracy is within ±5%; that does not mean all parts of a large room will read identically.

Coverage figures conflict too: Dreo’s humidifiers-series banner says up to 550 square feet, while the collection comparison lists 500 square feet. Numeric area is therefore left unknown in the matcher. Measure the room and assess the live humidity rather than assuming either marketing label is a guaranteed outcome. The 40-inch mist-height claim and 360-degree outlet help describe the plume, but they cannot eliminate placement limits. The manual calls for clearance from walls and nearby objects and warns against pointing mist at furniture or electronics.

Refill and care are still part of the product

The top-fill tank avoids a bottom-cap inversion. Dreo’s manual nevertheless shows that the tank, mist tube, cover, base and removable water filter need separate cleaning. It recommends descaling once a month and says to use purified or distilled water to reduce mineral residue. There is also a mineral-absorption pad in the warmer path; the manual says it can be cleaned and reused, while also recommending regular replacement. That is a recurring care item—not a filter-free unit.

For fragrance, use the divided aroma tray; add oil to the pad only, never to tank water. Dreo says the scent may be mild and the unit is not intended to work as an aroma diffuser. Leave the tray compartment that is not carrying scent open as the manual depicts. If that small maintenance detail sounds fussy, a plain cool-mist model may be the better appliance to live with.

Is the HM713S worth the extra settings?

Consider it when you have a genuine reason to switch between cool and warm mist and will use its app/target controls. It is not a simple pick on tank size: the cool-mist HM524S also has 6 liters, a custom target and a separate aroma pad, but avoids the warm-mist heater. The HM512S is smaller at 5 liters and has a 360-degree outlet; the HM311S is smaller again and its Auto details are less consistent. All four use ultrasonic mist, so none becomes an evaporative wick model just because a page describes fine particles or broad coverage.

The HM713S is a capable, feature-rich option for adults who can place it safely, follow the manual and maintain the warm-path parts. It is a poor match if you require a conflict-free maximum area rating, a precise upper target figure, minimal maintenance or a cool-only unit. The correct choice depends on which mode you will actually use, not how many modes the product page can list.
