Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Do you require heated warm mist with the maker's 500 mL/h maximum rating?
The HM713 manual lists a warm setting and a maximum warm output of 500 mL/h. It is a manufacturer rating; warm mode also draws a listed 280 W and has a heat caution.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you want a selectable Auto humidity target, with app control optional?
The manual documents an on-unit target from 30% to 90% in 5-point increments. It does not provide app-pairing instructions for this exact model, so an essential app requirement is not confirmed.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you want fragrance on a separate pad rather than in the water?
The manual shows an aroma-pad tray and explicitly says not to add oil to the tank. The package drawing shows three pads, with two pre-installed.
Explore this need in the finder →The Dreo HM713 is the no-suffix 6 L cool-and-warm humidifier documented in the manual attached to Lowe’s DR-HHM003 listing. It is not the later HM713S smart model, and it is not the Standard 813 / DWHM03 reviewed elsewhere. The HM713’s particular appeal is a selectable on-unit humidity target plus a heated-mist option; its practical cost is a recurring cleaning routine, warm-path precautions and an unclear room-size limit.
Local controls, not a confirmed phone-control purchase
The Dreo-authored HM713 manual identifies model DR-HHM003 and describes a 6 L tank, three mist levels and both cool and warm output. Its Auto control lets you select a target from 30% to 90% in five-point steps; the machine adjusts mist output toward that target. There is also a 0–12-hour timer, a sleep setting that drops to low output and turns off warm mist and ambient lighting, and a display-brightness control. That is a more adjustable interface than a simple output dial, but the manual I could inspect does not give app-pairing steps. If a phone app is an essential condition, unknown should not count as a match: consider the separate HM713S only after checking its exact listing and manual instead of assuming the missing “S” is cosmetic.
Warm mist is an option with a real operating tradeoff
The model-specific manual rates maximum output at 300 mL/h in cool mode and 500 mL/h in warm mode. It lists 26 W for cool operation and 280 W for warm. These are Dreo ratings, not measurements of how quickly a particular room will reach its target. Dreo’s promotional HM713 article says the warm mist reaches 133°F in five minutes; treat that as the maker’s claim about mist temperature, not a room-heating promise or an independently tested result. The manual also shows that warm mode is the default after power-on, so check the mode before leaving it running and keep the outlet clear of people, furnishings and electronics.
Refill and placement need a suitable surface
The manual shows the tank cover lifting off for access and describes removing the tank for first cleaning and filling. It is a 6 L reservoir, not a small cup, so think about where a full tank will be handled. Dreo’s instructions call for a level, stable surface with at least 30 cm of clearance from walls and major obstacles. They say not to put the unit directly on carpet or the floor, to use a water-resistant mat for possible drips, and to aim the mist away from walls, furniture and appliances. The manual does not state a numeric minimum raised-surface height, so this review does not invent one; the site’s optional numeric placement filter will not count an unknown height as meeting a strict requirement. Lowe’s item title attaches an “up to 500 sq ft” claim, but the linked model manual does not establish an area rating. Treat the retailer’s headline as uncorroborated sizing information, not a verified room-fit guarantee.
Care, water and fragrance are separate jobs
Mineral management is part of ownership. Dreo recommends purified or distilled water to reduce white residue, and the manual illustrates routine cleaning of the tank, mist tube, water filter and base. It recommends descaling once a month. That schedule is more concrete than any setting-specific runtime the manual provides: no exact low-setting hours or room-area rating is established for this model. The included aroma-pad tray is a separate fragrance route; the instructions say not to put essential oil in the tank. The manual package diagram shows three pads, two pre-installed. Treat this as a humidifier with a light scent option, not as an oil-in-water diffuser.
Who should compare it—and who should pass
HM713 makes sense for someone who wants both temperatures, a local target setting and a larger refill interval, and who can keep the appliance on a stable, water-resistant surface away from surfaces that could collect mist. It is a poor fit if warm output is unwanted, a confirmed app is essential, the manual’s placement instructions cannot be followed, or you need a clear manufacturer room-area guarantee. Its rated output can inform a comparison, but not substitute for room measurement; placement, ventilation, season and target all affect the result.
The HM713 shares some headline figures with Dreo’s later HM713S and the distinct Standard 813, but the model names and manuals do not collapse into one configuration. This HM713 manual gives a 30%–90% target range; the Standard 813 / DWHM03 manual gives a different upper target and a different placement instruction. Read the nameplate and use the manual for the exact suffix and code in hand. The exact DR-HHM003 retailer page was out of stock when checked, and the manufacturer’s current U.S. collection does not list the no-suffix HM713. Keep it as an earlier/reference choice for a specific offer or an existing unit, not a default current shortlist item.

Paper, software and setup details
Manufacturer cleaning interval
Descale once a month; manual illustrates cleaning tank, mist tube, water filter and base but gives no ordinary tank-cleaning calendar interval.
Water and care limits
Manual recommends purified or distilled water to reduce mineral residue; do not add oil to the tank. Use the separate aroma-pad tray. Place on a stable, level, water-resistant surface at least 30 cm from walls/obstacles, not directly on carpet or floor, and aim mist away from walls, furnishings and electronics. Warm mist may be hot; follow the exact manual.
