Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Would a four-liter top-access tank fit the way you refill?
Dreo lists a 4 L tank. The model guide describes removing the tank and cover, filling below MAX, then replacing them; its maximum-runtime claim is not tied to a setting.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you want a local timer, or a humidity cutoff that changes output automatically?
The guide describes a local 1–7 hour timer. It does not establish automatic humidity response or a selectable target, so a required target should not pass.
Explore this need in the finder →Is a separate aroma pad acceptable, with oils kept out of the tank?
The guide directs scent drops to the separate pad only, says the scent may be soft, and warns against adding oil to the water tank.
Explore this need in the finder →Is ultrasonic cool mist enough, or do you need warm mist?
Dreo specifies ultrasonic cool mist; the reviewed exact listing and guide do not describe a heated mode.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you prefer locally controlled operation or phone-app adjustment?
This non-Smart listing and its local control guide do not document app or voice operation. Choose a verified connected Dreo model if remote settings are essential.
Explore this need in the finder →Can you provide a stable raised surface at least 60 cm high?
The readable HM321 guide says to place it about 60 cm above the floor and away from walls; its placement rule may rule out a floor location.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the maker’s 300-square-foot upper area figure clear the threshold you selected?
Dreo publishes 300 sq ft for the listing. That number is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee for the humidity a particular room will reach.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you require indicator buttons, or a numeric humidity display?
The reviewed text guide documents an LED control panel with mist/timer/low-water indicators, but not a numeric RH reading. The LED display description should not be treated as a humidity display.
Explore this need in the finder →The Dreo Humidifier 321 4L is a straightforward cool-mist choice for someone who wants a larger tank, visible local mist settings and a short appliance timer without needing a phone app. The model guide documents three output levels and a 1-to-7-hour timer, but no selectable or automated humidity target. If a set humidity cutoff is essential, the 321 is not the model to assume will do it.
One exact listing, one documented tank plan
Dreo’s current U.S. collection calls this “Humidifier 321 4L” and links to a matching product page. Its Shopify record has one Default Title variant, SKU 10-16011-111 and UPC 810142859110; the gallery depicts a white unit but names no finish variants. A Dreo-branded manual transcription uses HM321 in its title and DWHM11 on its specification line. The product page does not cross-reference that code to the retail SKU, so this review uses “321” and does not infer a code from the image filename.
Its physical specification is clear: a 4-liter tank, ultrasonic operation and cool mist. Dreo lists three output rates—120, 180 and 250 mL/h—and claims up to 36 hours, 300 square feet, 40-inch mist height, 5-micron mist and 28 dB. These are maker claims, not independent tests of runtime, coverage, particle size or sound. Runtime is not tied to a setting, so do not assume 36 hours at high output or treat 300 square feet as a guarantee; room height, doors and ventilation matter.
Local choices, not a documented humidity target
The model-specific text guide describes an on-body LED control panel with mist settings and timer indicators. It combines 1-, 2- and 4-hour intervals to offer 1 through 7 hours. Dreo also describes the display as dimmable. That is useful if you want a manual stop time or want to reduce the display at night, but the guide does not show a numeric relative-humidity readout or a selectable RH cutoff. Dreo’s general specification block includes the phrase “Adjustable Humidistat”; that generic line is not enough to establish how this exact listing senses, selects or maintains a target. In the finder, an essential automatic-humidity or custom-target requirement should not pass on this evidence.
The page and guide describe an on-unit, non-Smart control arrangement. They do not document a remote handset, app or voice-control path for this listing. That can be a plus if you prefer appliance-side operation, but it is a poor fit if you expect to change settings from bed or schedule operation from a phone. For a documented app and selectable Auto target, compare the smaller Dreo 409S review rather than reading smart behavior into the “321” number.
Refill and aroma are separate jobs
Dreo promotes a wide top opening. The manual transcription’s setup still has you remove the cover and tank, fill below the MAX line, then put the tank and cover back; it explicitly says not to pour into the mist tube. In other words, top access avoids turning an inverted reservoir over, but it is not a reason to fill the base or skip the setup steps. The unit’s large tank may mean fewer refills than a smaller reservoir under similar settings, while its 4-liter capacity also means a full tank is a weight you will lift and carry.
The listed box contents include two aroma pads and a cleaning brush. The guide says to put a few drops on the pad only, not in the tank, and warns that the scent is soft and is not the purpose of a dedicated diffuser. The scent level is not adjustable. If you want fragrance, this is a limited scent route; if you want no oil, simply leave the pad dry. Do not assume a separate app-driven or adjustable diffuser function.
Placement and cleaning are part of the fit
The HM321 text manual asks for a firm, level surface about 60 cm above the floor and at least 30 cm from walls or major obstacles. It says not to place the appliance directly on carpet or floor, to direct mist away from walls, furniture and electrical equipment, and suggests a water-resistant mat. That raised placement rule can be the deciding factor: a suitable shelf or table needs to be stable enough for a filled reservoir and allow the nozzle to point into open space. If your only practical location is at floor level, choose a different model with placement directions that fit the room.
Ultrasonic mist can carry minerals from the water, and Dreo recommends purified or distilled water to reduce white residue. The text guide calls for water renewal and cleaning at least every three days, monthly descaling, and weekly attention to the aroma-pad tray. It also says to unplug before care, drain the base, keep water out of the main body and never wash the body under running water. This is a hands-on maintenance plan rather than self-cleaning convenience. Dishwasher-safe components are not established, so use the manual’s cleaning steps rather than a dishwasher assumption.
Who should choose it?
Choose the 321 when the combination of 4 liters, top access, cool ultrasonic mist, local output choices, a 1–7-hour timer and a separate aroma pad matches your routine—and when you can meet the raised placement and cleaning directions. It is a sensible comparison point against smaller manual humidifiers when tank size matters more than connected controls.
Skip it if you require warm mist, a proven humidity target, app/remote control or floor-level placement. Dreo’s 409S is a smaller-tank app-and-target option; the 321 trades that control path for 4 L and a local timer. Neither should be chosen from a maximum-runtime headline. Paper, software and setup details
Manufacturer noise claim
Dreo advertises 28 dB; no measurement method or independent noise measurement was reviewed.
Manufacturer cleaning interval
The Dreo-branded HM321 manual transcription warns to renew water and clean at least every three days and recommends monthly descaling.
Water and care limits
The readable DWHM11/HM321 manual transcription directs filling the tank rather than the mist tube, using purified or distilled water to reduce white residue, unplugging before care, draining the base, not washing the main body under running water and keeping mist away from walls, furniture and electrical appliances. It calls for a firm, level raised surface about 60 cm above the floor and at least 30 cm from walls or obstacles; verify directions against the booklet supplied with the exact SKU because the original PDF could not be retrieved.
