Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Would a three-liter tank meet your minimum, or do you need more water capacity?
The Dreo product record and HM306S manual text identify a 3 L tank.
Explore this need in the finder →Are app settings or connected voice control essential for your use?
The exact 306S product page and manual text document app/voice control; the manual requires a Dreo account for voice assistants.
Explore this need in the finder →Is a 300-square-foot maker-stated upper area figure sufficient for your room plan?
Dreo lists up to 300 sq ft; this is a manufacturer claim, not an independently measured room guarantee.
Explore this need in the finder →Is heated warm mist essential, or can an ultrasonic cool-mist plan work?
The HM306S is documented as ultrasonic cool mist; no warm-mist mode is listed.
Explore this need in the finder →The Dreo HM306S is the connected, 3-liter version of Dreo’s small HM306 ultrasonic humidifier. It pairs a compact top-fill tank with touch controls, a humidity display, automatic humidity response and app/voice control. The key distinction is the S model’s connected control arrangement: this review is for HM306S / DR-HHM006S, not the separately listed standard HM306.
A compact connected configuration, not a 6-liter room unit
Dreo’s U.S. product page names this “Smart Humidifier 306S 3L” and its product record lists the current white SKU as 10-160061-003. A Dreo-authored manual text identifies the exact model as DR-HHM006S, with HVIN 30043-HH006A and FCC ID 2A3SYHHM006A. Dreo also lists a separate standard HM306 3L, so keep the S model and its connected controls distinct.
The HM306S uses ultrasonic cool mist. Its removable 3-liter tank fills from the top; Dreo lists dimensions of 7.6 inches deep by 10.2 wide by 7.6 high and a weight of 2.71 pounds. Those figures help plan a compact footprint, but do not include the space needed to lift the cover or direct mist away from nearby surfaces.
What connected control adds—and what it asks of you
The product page lists app, voice and touch controls. The model-specific manual describes pairing the HM306S in the Dreo app and linking Alexa or Google Home through that app; a Dreo account is required for voice-assistant access. The panel includes a humidity display and Auto control, while the manual says Sleep mode is switched in the app. It is not phone-only, but someone who wants every feature without Wi-Fi setup should compare the separate HM306 and verify its own manual.
Dreo advertises up to 250 mL per hour, an area figure up to 300 square feet and up to 30 hours in Sleep mode. These are maker claims, not room measurements or a runtime guarantee at every output. For a larger space, compare a model with a higher published area figure; a larger tank also changes refill weight and handling.
Read the noise and placement notes carefully
The same product page gives two noise figures: 28 dB in a feature bullet and 26 dB in structured specifications. Neither is independent, so do not treat quietness language as a guaranteed bedside result. The maker images show a lit panel, but do not establish how bright it feels in your room.
Placement instructions conflict across the maker’s materials. The product FAQ discusses a tabletop or floor, while the manual text says not to place it directly on the floor or carpet; its safety section calls for a surface about two feet above the floor, and its setup section calls for 12 inches of wall clearance. Follow the instructions supplied with your unit, direct mist away from furniture and electronics, and consider Dreo’s recommended water-resistant mat. Listed height alone does not establish safe placement.
Water and cleaning are part of the ownership plan
Like other ultrasonic units, the HM306S sends water droplets into the air. Dreo recommends purified or distilled water to reduce mineral residue and notes that hard-water minerals can leave a white film. Dreo lists a demineralization cartridge for certain 306-series listings, but the accessory compatibility text does not name HM306S specifically; do not assume fit or inclusion, and do not treat a cartridge as a substitute for cleaning.
The Dreo-authored manual recommends monthly descaling and weekly aroma-tray cleaning. It directs owners to empty the tank and base, unplug before care, use the supplied brush for removable parts and keep water away from the electrical body and air outlets. Oil belongs only on the separate pad, never in tank water; the manual says scent is soft and not adjustable. Leave the tray empty if you do not want that feature.
Who should consider a different Dreo?
Choose the HM306S if a 3-liter top-fill cool-mist humidifier, touch panel and app settings fit your room and you can keep up with the cleaning routine. It suits shoppers prioritizing compact size and connected adjustment over a large reservoir. The 30-hour maximum is tied to Sleep mode, not every setting, so check water rather than assuming a full day at high output.
If you specifically want no network control, investigate the separate standard HM306 and verify its features. Dreo’s standard HM524 is a documented 6-liter alternative with on-device Auto and timer controls, but it changes both capacity and controls. This cool-mist-only unit does not suit a warm-mist requirement. Area, runtime, mist-size and noise figures are manufacturer claims; decide around room size, water quality, placement and the care routine you can keep.

Paper, software and setup details
Manufacturer noise claim
Dreo lists 28 dB in a product-page feature bullet and 26 dB in the structured specification; neither is an independent measurement.
Manufacturer cleaning interval
Dreo-authored HM306S manual transcription recommends descaling once a month and cleaning the aroma-pad tray once a week.
Water and care limits
The manual text recommends purified or distilled water to reduce white mineral residue; keep oils on the separate aroma pad, not in tank water. Unplug before cleaning, do not rinse the electrical body, and keep water away from air outlets. The manual and current FAQ conflict about floor placement; use the safety/placement instructions supplied with the exact unit and keep mist away from furnishings and electronics. Dreo's separate cartridge listing does not explicitly name the HM306S suffix, so exact compatibility is unknown.
