Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Do you want a Canopy evaporative unit for a larger room?
The current page calls it an evaporative fan-and-filter humidifier and Canopy states an upper room-area figure of 1,000 square feet. That is a manufacturer claim, not a room-performance guarantee.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you want Canopy Auto to respond to room light rather than a measured humidity target?
Yes. The Humidifier Plus manual says Auto selects Low when the room is lit and Medium in darkness; it does not select a relative-humidity target.
Explore this need in the finder →Must the manual confirm at least some removable dishwasher-safe parts?
The manual names the tank, cap and tray for the top dishwasher rack; it does not name the grill. Keep the filter and electrical body out.
Explore this need in the finder →Would a top-fill reservoir or smartphone-controlled humidity target be essential?
Either requirement changes the fit: this tank is removed and opened at its cap, and no app or selected RH target is documented.
Explore this need in the finder →Canopy’s Large Room Humidifier—listed under the older “Humidifier Plus” product handle—is the line’s higher-capacity evaporative option for open living areas and larger bedrooms. Its manufacturer-stated ceiling is 1,000 square feet, and it keeps the brand’s removable tank, paper filter, fan evaporation, tap-water allowance and aroma accessories. The most important qualification is practical: it is not a humidity-target controller, and the manual’s dishwasher list is narrower than the current product page’s claim about the removable grill.
Why consider this model for a large room?
Canopy’s current U.S. page identifies the product as Large Room Humidifier, while the same product handle and archived operating manual call it Humidifier Plus. The current variant record lists White (K-CAN-HUM-WHI-L2), Moonstruck (K-CAN-HUM-MOO-L2) and Cream (K-CAN-HUM-CRE-L2). The product page lists dimensions of 14.5 inches long by 12 inches high by 9.5 inches wide and an empty weight of 6.6 pounds. That is a larger piece of furniture than Bedside or Nursery 2.0, whose shared 2.5-liter tanks and 500-square-foot upper-area claims target smaller rooms. If your humidifier will live in a living room or a big bedroom, the Large Room’s claimed 1,000-square-foot reach is the relevant Canopy distinction.
Room coverage is still a manufacturer figure, not a guarantee that every part of an open-plan home will sit at one relative humidity. Doorways, ceilings, air conditioning, heating and placement all affect what reaches a distant corner. Canopy’s support FAQ says the expected runtime varies with room humidity and estimates 18–36 hours per full tank; the product page separately calls out “up to 36 hours.” Read those together as a variable claim rather than a promise that the unit will run overnight in every room. The page does not publish a tank volume, so I would not infer one from the runtime or compare it numerically with other reservoirs.
Evaporation, sensors and water choice
The Humidifier Plus user manual describes water passing through a paper filter before a fan evaporates it. That is a wick-and-fan method without the conspicuous ultrasonic mist plume. The manual’s Auto control uses a light sensor, selecting Low when the room is lit and Medium when it is dark. It does not select a target based on a relative-humidity reading. If you want the appliance itself to stop at 45 or 50 percent RH, this is not the right fit; Canopy documents neither that type of humidity control nor phone-app control here. A separate hygrometer can help you observe the room, but it does not communicate with the humidifier.
Canopy says the internal filter catches minerals and contaminants from tap water before evaporation, so distilled water is not required. Harder water may shorten filter life: the product page says to replace the filter every 45 days and its FAQ gives a broader five-to-seven-week interval, asking owners to inspect for crusting, hardening or discoloration. A water/filter indicator illuminates; the support instructions say to hold the On/Off control for 30 seconds after installing a fresh filter to reset it. The filter treatment is not a substitute for emptying, drying or washing the machine, and Canopy’s mold-inhibiting language is limited to reducing growth inside the device—not a promise of protection from illness or room mold.
Cleaning: trust the exact manual first
The attractive promise of dishwasher-safe parts needs a little care. Canopy’s current product page lists the tank, tray, cap and grill as dishwasher-safe, and its cleaning article tells owners to put those pieces on the top rack. The Humidifier Plus manual I inspected explicitly names the tank, tank cap and water tray for the top rack; it says not to put the filter or main electrical body in the dishwasher, and does not name the grill in that list. Because the wording does not line up exactly, treat the tank, cap and tray as the clearly manual-confirmed dishwasher parts, leave the filter and body out, and check the instructions supplied with a particular unit before washing its grill. That is a real material limit, not a reason to guess that all removable parts share the same treatment.
For weekly upkeep, Canopy recommends letting the tray and filter dry fully at least once a week. Keep the device on a flat, water-resistant surface at least six inches from a wall or furniture, as the manual warns about dampness and condensation. Clean dust from the fan only as directed. The reservoir is removable and capped for filling; it is not an open-pour top-fill arrangement. It also needs continuous power, so unlike the Portable it is not a cordless travel choice.
Where it fits in the Canopy line
Choose the Large Room when you want Canopy’s evaporative, filtered-water approach for a larger space and are comfortable with a recurring filter and a larger fixed appliance. Its aroma options include a top-grate aroma stone and a tray diffusion well; the listed one-time package identifies a filter, diffusion well and aroma sample, not a stone. If you want the smaller 2.0 body and light-responsive Auto behavior, compare the Bedside Humidifier 2.0 and Nursery Humidifier 2.0. For a directed personal zone rather than whole-room humidification, the battery-capable Portable Humidifier is a different tool. The larger-area claim alone does not settle the choice: use your actual room layout, not a marketing ceiling, to decide which size is sensible.

Paper, software and setup details
Manufacturer cleaning interval
Let the tray and filter dry fully at least weekly. Replace the filter about every 45 days; the FAQ describes a five-to-seven-week range and advises inspecting it for hardening, crusting or discoloration. Clean the device on the manual's schedule.
Water and care limits
The product-page FAQ says tap water is acceptable because the filter is intended to catch minerals/contaminants. That treatment is not a substitute for cleaning or filter replacement. Keep the device level on a water-resistant surface at least 6 in from walls/furniture and avoid directing airflow at them. The manual confirms tank/cap/tray top-rack washing; do not wash filter or electrical body.
