Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Do you want a large evaporative console with a wick and sensor-set humidity, rather than a small mist device?
The Valiant is an evaporative cool-mist console with an included replaceable HDC12 wick and a cord-mounted humidistat.
Explore this need in the finder →Can you refill two separate 2.5-gallon bottles instead of using a top-fill tank?
The Valiant holds five gallons in two removable bottles that the manual says to fill through side openings while laid flat.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you require a top-fill opening?
No. The manual documents two side-filled removable bottles, not a top-fill tank.
Explore this need in the finder →Would local digital buttons, three speeds and a control lock suit your routine?
The exact product page and manual list local digital controls, three fan speeds and a control lock.
Explore this need in the finder →Is heated warm mist essential?
No. AIRCARE describes cool-mist evaporative operation; the reviewed plan has no heated warm-mist mode.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you need phone-app control or an included handset?
Neither is documented for these exact product listings. Unknown app/remote status does not meet an essential connectivity or remote requirement.
Explore this need in the finder →Can you accept an adjustable humidistat without documented network control?
The cord sensor cycles the fan at a selected 25–65% target, but connectivity is not established by the reviewed manufacturer materials.
Explore this need in the finder →Are you comfortable replacing an evaporative wick and cleaning the cabinet by hand?
One HDC12 wick is included; the manual gives a 720-hour check reminder and hand-cleaning instructions. Dishwasher-safe components are not identified.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you require manufacturer-confirmed dishwasher-safe parts?
The Valiant manual does not identify dishwasher-safe humidifier parts, so this essential need remains unsupported.
Explore this need in the finder →Does your room need a documented manufacturer area figure near 4,000 square feet?
AIRCARE lists up to 4,000 square feet, an upper claim rather than independent room testing.
Explore this need in the finder →The AIRCARE VALIANT HD1409 is a large, wheeled evaporative humidifier built around two removable water bottles and a digital humidistat. It makes the most sense in a central floor location where a five-gallon fill and sensor-based cycling are worth the cabinet’s footprint and wick upkeep. AIRCARE lists the brushed-nickel HD1409 and a separate honey-oak EA1407; its shared manual covers both, while the finish pages carry different service-part numbers.

Two bottles change the refill routine
The five-gallon capacity is split between two removable bottles, each rated for 2.5 gallons. AIRCARE’s manual says to lay each bottle flat and fill it through the large opening on its side, then tighten the fill cap and place the bottles in their marked left and right positions. The right bottle drains first. This is not a top-fill tank, and the five-gallon total should not be mistaken for a light carry tank: moving a full bottle still takes a deliberate lift, and the cabinet itself stays on the floor. Four casters help reposition it on a level surface after setup, but they do not make the unit portable in the personal-room sense.
Initial assembly includes installing the casters by hand; the manual warns not to use tools because they can crack the cabinet. The bottles, float, wick housings and fan assembly also have to be seated correctly. Budget a little floor space for the 22.8-inch-high, 24.3-inch-wide, 15-inch-deep cabinet and access to fill both bottles. If your preferred routine is to pour from a pitcher through a top opening, a true top-fill design will be easier.
Digital humidity control is more useful than the area headline
The HD1409 has on-unit digital controls, three fan speeds, a control lock and a humidistat on the power cord. AIRCARE’s manual gives a selectable humidity range of 25% to 65%; the sensor stops the fan when the target is reached and restarts it as room humidity falls. At 65%, the fan runs continuously. Keep the cord sensor clear of the wall: the manual asks for at least two inches of clearance and recommends a central room, preferably near a cold-air return, for circulation. For a multi-story home, AIRCARE recommends placing it on the lower floor and warns against positioning it under a window because condensation may occur.
The listing’s “up to 4,000 square feet” and “up to 55 hours” are manufacturer maximum claims, not a measurement of performance in a particular house or an interval you can count on at every fan setting. Closed rooms, ceiling height, leakage and the selected target all matter. The display and humidistat offer more control than a single-output switch, but this is still a fan-driven evaporative unit, not a phone-connected system. The manufacturer does not document an app or included remote for these exact listings; if either is essential, verify the exact package before buying rather than treating silence as a feature.
Expect a wick, airflow and hands-on cleaning
Water feeds the included HDC12 SuperWick while a fan moves air through it, producing cool-mist evaporative humidification rather than a visible ultrasonic plume or heated warm mist. AIRCARE lists a refill indicator and empty shutoff. The manual’s CF reminder appears after 720 operating hours and means “check” the wick, not that the part automatically needs replacement at that moment. It says mineral content affects wick life and advises replacing it at the beginning of each season. Keep the ongoing wick cost and periodic cabinet cleaning in your ownership plan.
The care instructions are hands-on: let the unit run empty, switch it off and unplug it, remove the fan assembly, bottles and wick, then empty and clean the cabinet and bottles. The manual describes vinegar cleaning and a separate bleach disinfection option; never mix the two. It also says not to use essential oils or water softeners in the Valiant. AIRCARE lists compatible bacteriostat and fragrances, but the manual’s prohibition on essential oils means those products should not be treated as permission to add oil to the water. Dishwasher-safe parts are not identified, so a dishwasher requirement is not met by the available documentation.
HD1409 or EA1407?
The brushed-nickel HD1409 and honey-oak EA1407 share the 5-gallon capacity, dimensions, 55-hour maximum runtime claim, up-to-4,000-square-foot claim, three speeds, digital controls, adjustable humidistat and HDC12 wick. Both are covered by AIRCARE owner’s manual 1B73363. Their cabinet, fan-assembly and lid replacement-part numbers differ, so use the exact model when ordering service parts. The EA1407 page heading and linked image identify honey oak, but its introductory copy unexpectedly repeats the phrase “nickel finish.” Treat that as a manufacturer-page text conflict and confirm the EA1407 SKU and finish with the seller; the page’s listed operating facts do not show a performance difference.
Choose the Valiant when you want a large evaporative console, a real humidity target and two removable refill bottles, and can accept wick maintenance, a broad floor footprint and substantial airflow noise at higher speeds. The manual compares higher-speed sound to a box fan, so it is a poor match for someone prioritizing quiet bedside operation. It also misses needs for warm mist, true top-fill access, an included handset, verified app control, dishwasher-certified parts, or essential-oil use. Compare the AIRCARE SPACE SAVER if a single cabinet reservoir and a different control arrangement suit your refill habits better; compare the smaller PEDESTAL if its documented 3.5-gallon capacity and nine speeds are a closer fit. Do not choose by the largest square-foot figure alone.
Model basis: AIRCARE product pages for HD1409 and EA1407, current collection listing, support entry, and Valiant owner’s manual #1B73363 (8/2020), which names both models. Capacity, coverage, dimensions and runtime are manufacturer claims; no independent output, room-coverage or sound test is represented.

Paper, software and setup details
Manufacturer noise claim
The Valiant manual says higher fan speeds are louder and compares the sound to a box fan; no decibel figure is published.
Manufacturer cleaning interval
The CF reminder appears after 720 operating hours and is a wick-check prompt. AIRCARE says wick life depends on water mineral content and recommends changing the wick at the start of each season; no fixed cleaning interval is given.
Water and care limits
Regular hand cleaning: run empty, switch off/unplug, remove fan assembly, bottles and wick, empty and clean the cabinet/bottles; the manual specifies separate vinegar and bleach options and says never mix them. It also prohibits essential oils and water softeners. No dishwasher-safe parts are identified.
