Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Would warm mist be useful if you do not need to add oil directly to the tank?
The exact PEHUMPRO manual documents warm and cool ultrasonic mist, while it prohibits tank additives including essential oils.
Explore this need in the finder →Would a 5-liter removable tank work, or is a true pour-through top-fill essential?
The manual says to lift the tank and unscrew its cap; it does not document top filling in place.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you want humidity-sensor response plus an adjustable target up to 80% RH?
Auto uses a maker-stated 55–68% band, and the separate Humidistat target is selectable from 40% to 80% RH.
Explore this need in the finder →Are the current page's 430-square-foot ceiling and 5-liter capacity enough for your comparison?
The product page says up to 430 sq ft; the manual says 600 sq ft, so the matcher uses the lower current-page figure and does not promise room performance.
Explore this need in the finder →Would an included handheld remote help, or do you require the on-device-only control option?
The current product page lists a physical remote in the box; phone-app/network control is not documented.
Explore this need in the finder →Can you use a humidifier with no manufacturer-approved essential-oil route?
The manual warns that essential oils and other additives in the tank can damage this appliance; it does not identify a separate aroma pad or cup.
Explore this need in the finder →Would warm/cool mist work if you accept hand cleaning rather than dishwasher-safe parts?
The manual describes hand cleaning but does not identify dishwasher-safe components; that unknown cannot satisfy an essential dishwasher requirement.
Explore this need in the finder →The Pure Enrichment HUME XL Pro Warm & Cool Mist Humidifier (PEHUMPRO) combines a 5-liter removable tank with ultrasonic cool or heated warm mist, three output levels, a humidity sensor, a separate humidistat setting and an included handheld remote. Its main tradeoff is practical: you get warm/cool choice and more control than a basic manual-mist unit, but the tank has to be removed and uncapped for filling rather than poured into in place. The manufacturer's product listing is currently marked sold out, so treat this as a documented model to compare and verify an exact PEHUMPRO offer before buying.
A sizable tank, but not a pour-through top-fill
The manual specifies a 5-liter (1.3-gallon) reservoir. To refill it, lift the tank off the base, unscrew the tank cap, add clean room-temperature tap water or distilled water, replace the cap and set the tank back on its base. Because it is not top-fill, the larger capacity still means lifting a full tank and handling its cap. The empty unit measures 8.9 by 5.9 by 14.4 inches and the product page lists it at 5.6 pounds. Leave room around it, keep it level on a water-resistant surface, and unplug before filling, cleaning or moving it. The manual says not to move the humidifier while plugged in.
Warm/cool selection and two humidity controls
PEHUMPRO offers three mist-output levels in either cool or warm mode. The warm control heats the mist; the manual gives output ratings up to 400 mL per hour on high for warm mist and 300 mL per hour for cool mist, with stated tolerance. These are manufacturer figures, not independent measurements. Warm mist adds a burn-related placement concern: the manual says to keep the unit out of reach of children and pets. If heated mist is not important, a cool-only machine avoids that extra mode and may be simpler to operate.
The digital display reports room humidity, and there are two distinct ways to use that reading. Auto chooses a setting based on ambient humidity within the manufacturer's stated 55–68% band. The separate Humidistat button lets you choose a target from 40% to 80% relative humidity, then the unit turns off when that target is reached; the manual notes that startup lasts at least two minutes even if the selected level has already been reached. A timer adds an automatic shutoff from one to ten hours, while Night Mode dims the control-panel lights. The product page lists a soft base light and an included physical remote. Those controls are not app or network operation: the manufacturer page and manual do not establish a phone app.
Room-size, runtime and power claims do not line up perfectly
Coverage claims conflict: the current page says up to 430 square feet, while the manual says up to 600. Use the lower page figure as the conservative comparison threshold; neither guarantees that a room will reach a chosen humidity. Runtime differs too: the page says up to 25 hours on low in warm mode and 50 in cool mode; the manual gives low-setting ranges of 21–31 hours warm and 42–63 cool, and says water quality, room temperature and fill amount matter. Power is another mismatch: the page lists 105 watts and the manual 125. Treat these as maker claims, not measured results, and do not rely on the higher or longest figure when it is a hard threshold.
Care rules out tank-added oils
The manufacturer manual allows clean tap or distilled water and warns that essential oils, fragrances, eucalyptus, water conditioners and other additives in the tank can damage the appliance. There is no documented separate aroma pad or oil cup for this configuration, so it does not fit a requirement for a manufacturer-approved scent route. The product page mentions a separate decalcification cartridge and says to change it every six months; it is not listed among the items in the box. For routine care, empty and hand-clean the tank and base, keep water away from the air outlet and never immerse the unit. The manual recommends more frequent cleaning in hard-water areas, suggests distilled water to reduce deposits, and gives vinegar-based descaling instructions. It does not identify dishwasher-safe parts, so a dishwasher requirement is unmet rather than implied by the removable tank.
How it differs from nearby HUME choices
Compared with the HUME Max Top Fill, PEHUMPRO adds warm mist, Auto and a user-set humidity range, a timer and a remote; HUME Max has a smaller 3.7-liter tank, cool mist only and an easier documented pour-through top-fill routine. If true top filling matters more than temperature choice, HUME Max is the closer fit. Pure Enrichment's HUME Sense Warm & Cool is another relevant alternative: its current page describes a larger 2-gallon top-fill tank and sensor control, but its standalone listing was also recorded as sold out. The XL Pro sits between those priorities with a 5-liter tank and wider manual controls, but neither its area claim nor its runtime should be used as a room-performance promise.
Who should consider it
Consider the HUME XL Pro if both warm and cool mist, sensor response, a selectable humidity target, a one-to-ten-hour timer and a handheld remote match your routine, and you are comfortable lifting the tank for each refill and cleaning it by hand. It is a poor fit if true top-fill, app operation, a separate scent route, dishwasher-safe parts or personal-zone portability are essential; those needs are absent or not documented. The current manufacturer page marks PEHUMPRO sold out, and its 430-versus-600-square-foot, runtime and wattage figures conflict with the manual. Confirm the exact model code and current offer rather than assuming another HUME XL listing is the same configuration. See the manufacturer product page and the PEHUMPRO owner manual for operating instructions.
