A useful fit for

A good fit for someone who wants a compact 3-liter cool-mist reservoir, pour-in-place top access, three manual output levels, and humidity-responsive Auto without requiring a user-selected cutoff. The manual gives a model-specific care routine and a separate aroma-pad route.

The main tradeoff

Auto follows fixed humidity bands, not a selectable target; it has no documented warm mist. The 475 ft² area claim and 30/15/10-hour runtimes are manufacturer ratings, not guarantees. The manual gives no dishwasher-safe-parts, app, or remote claim; essential requirements for those unknowns must fail closed.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you want a true top-fill tank rather than an inverted bottom-cap reservoir?

The PEHUTRB-W manual permits pouring into the tank after lifting the top cover, either in place or with the tank removed.

Is sensor-based Auto useful even if the humidity bands are fixed?

The manual says Auto changes among three mist levels as room humidity changes; it does not document a user-selected cutoff.

Would a cool-mist ultrasonic plan meet the method you need?

The exact owner manual identifies this model as an ultrasonic cool-mist humidifier, not a warm-mist unit.

Explore this need in the finder →
Would you require the ability to set a specific upper Auto humidity target?

No selected target is documented. The model’s Auto response uses fixed humidity bands; an essential selectable ceiling must not match.

Does the manual-backed 3-liter capacity meet a minimum capacity requirement?

The exact PEHUTRB-W manual states a 3-liter tank; the optional cartridge is a separate accessory and does not change capacity.

The Pure Enrichment HUME Sense Top Fill (model PEHUTRB-W) is a 3-liter ultrasonic cool-mist humidifier with three output levels, a built-in humidity sensor, and a separate aroma-pad tray. Its most useful distinction is an automatic mode that responds to room humidity without offering a user-selected target: the manual describes fixed output bands, not a setpoint you choose. The exact model guide rates coverage up to 475 square feet, but that is a manufacturer ceiling, not a promise for every room.

Top filling is flexible, but it is still a water-handling routine

The 3-liter tank can be filled by lifting the cover and pouring water into the tank while it sits on the base, or by lifting the cover, removing the tank, and filling it separately. That is a genuine top-fill alternative to turning a reservoir upside down over the sink. The manual still directs you to turn the unit off before removing the cover, keep water out of the mist chamber and avoid moving or emptying the powered appliance. If you want a small reservoir that you can refill in place, that flexibility is the model’s clearest practical advantage; it does not remove the need to carry water or clean the tank.

Pure Enrichment lists three mist levels. Its model-specific manual rates about 100, 200 and 300 milliliters per hour at Levels I, II and III, respectively, with a ±20% range. The stated maximum run times are 30, 15 and 10 hours at those same levels, also ±20%, under 70°F and 30% relative-humidity test conditions. Treat those as maker figures, not a guaranteed refill schedule. More output shortens the stated runtime, and water type and room conditions can change the result. The body is listed at 7.4 by 7.4 by 9.6 inches, with 120 V / 60 Hz / 25 W power; the guide does not label the three size dimensions individually, so check the footprint and clearance rather than assuming an orientation from that sequence.

Auto mode responds to humidity but does not let you select a cutoff

The HUME Sense has a physical Auto button and the manual says that the humidistat changes among its three mist levels as room humidity changes. It describes Level III at 0–45%, Level II at 45–65%, and Level I above 65%, with color indicators tied to those bands. Because the printed ranges meet at 45% and 65%, do not treat them as precision thresholds. The manual does not describe a user-entered humidity target; if you need to choose an upper Auto setting, the questionnaire should not count this model as meeting that requirement. That distinction matters: sensor response is real, but it is not the same feature as a selectable target.

The control panel also offers a cycling color light and a Sleep setting that keeps the selected mist level while turning off the room light. It remembers the previous mist, Auto and light settings while it stays plugged in. The exact guide documents controls on the appliance; it does not establish an app, network connection, remote, or a timed shutoff. A required phone setting or remote feature is therefore not confirmed. Normal mist output can run on its selected level until it is turned off or the water runs low; the manual says low water or tank removal stops mist and changes the indicator from white to red.

Keep aroma oil and cleaning separate from the water path

Aroma use is through the rear tray and a separate pad. The manual says to use one pad at a time, put oil only on the pad, and never put oil or additives into the tank; oil in the tank can damage the appliance and void its warranty. It also says to clean the aroma tray after each use. That is a clearer and safer distinction than a vague “aromatherapy” claim, but people who do not want fragranced air can leave the tray unused.

The guide calls for unplugging before care, keeping water out of the base’s dry-air exhaust, cleaning the tank with water and a bottle brush, and gently cleaning the ultrasonic disk with the enclosed brush. It warns not to scrape the disk or submerge the base. Depending on use and water type, it says scale removal may be needed weekly or every other week; distilled water is suggested for hard-water areas. The manual gives hand-cleaning directions, not a dishwasher-safe-parts claim, so do not assume that the tank, cover or other removable pieces belong in a dishwasher. The manufacturer separately lists a HUME Sense decalcification cartridge as compatible, but whether a filter is included depends on the exact package. The standalone page currently shows sold out, while separate HUME Sense bundles are listed with extra filters and pads; compare the exact box contents rather than treating those packages as a different humidifier.

Who should choose it—and who should compare the other Sense

PEHUTRB-W makes sense for someone who wants cool mist, a medium-size reservoir, true top access, simple level control and humidity-responsive Auto without needing a selected target. The manual rates the unit for up to 475 square feet, but a high ceiling, open plan or moisture-sensitive furniture can make that upper-area claim a poor sizing shortcut. The manual recommends a firm, flat, moisture-resistant surface, at least 12 inches from walls, and directing mist away from nearby objects; it also says not to place the appliance on carpet or an absorbent surface. No dishwasher-safe parts, selectable target, app control or personal-zone output are established in the reviewed material.

If heated warm mist or a selectable humidity range is essential, compare the separate HUME Sense Warm & Cool Mist Top Fill, model PEHUTRB2G-W. Its page describes a two-gallon tank, warm and cool settings, and an Auto range of 40–75%; those are meaningful differences, not a finish variation. Its cleaning instructions remain separate from this PEHUTRB-W manual. The HUME Sense name covers two materially different operating configurations, so use the model code—not the shared family name—to check a specific offer. Pure Enrichment’s PEHUTRB-W listing and its model-specific owner manual are the useful references for the cool-mist plan.
